What’s the scheme about?
It’s a membership scheme to help you buy oil in smaller quantities and at a cheaper price. Our minimum order is 200 litres. By joining a bulk buying scheme, you will benefit from the lower prices that can be negotiated by buying oil in large quantities.
How does it work?
Members place their order with a community co-ordinator. Orders must be placed by a specified date each month. Participating oil suppliers are then contacted and the best price negotiated for the bulk order. Members are then advised of estimated delivery dates.
By making the most of joint buying, we can make savings and pass them on to members whose fuel costs are high simply because they have oil-fired central heating.
The environment benefits too.
Every time a tanker makes a delivery, it uses a lot of fuel - a full tanker can get as little as 8 miles per gallon. If deliveries are organised so that one tanker delivers to several customers in the same area, instead of making lots of individual deliveries, the tanker’s fuel consumption is reduced.
How much could I save?
The Braid oil club has been operating for over 6 years and during that time customers in Broughshane and the Braid have ordered over 1.8 million litres of oil. Over the past year our customers have saved on average of 6p per litre while they ordered over 358,000 litres of oil. This brought savings of over £15,500 to our community.

Place an Order
Before the monthly deadline date, place your order by telephone our via our online registration form. Each month our co-ordinator submits our total order.
Please note you do not need to place an order every month.

Sit back whilst we negotiate the price
We negotiate the best price from a range of participating suppliers. You will be advised of who the supplier will be, the price and the approximate date of delivery.

Take delivery and pay the supplier
The oil will be delivered as soon as possible. You pay the selected supplier directly.
